Mr. Hata, a postscript

3 weeks after a dying man meets his son for the first time in 30 years

  1. 3 weeks ago, I shared story of Mr. Hata whose dying wish was to be reunited w/ T, the son he'd not seen in 30 yrs.  https://storify.com/DocumentingIan/mr-hata-and-t-a-reunion-after-30
  2. Mr Hata was so happy to reunite w/ T and meet his wife & daughter. He'd worried w/out a dad growing up, T wouldn't get married or have kids.
  3. Soon after returning home, Mr Hata became weaker. But even on oxygen, he smiled. And he often talked w/ me about T. https://t.co/7Ptaj2ZtQt

  4. From his bed, Mr Hata told stories and entertained visitors w/ jokes. https://t.co/QoPilynCIs

  5. Last week I asked Mr Hata if he wanted to record any messages. He said yes but insisted on shaving first. https://t.co/pqSwvwsa0c
